In January of 2013, Samsung released the S275G clamshell phone for TracFone. The phone’s 1.76-inch primary display is small even for a flip phone, and users will not be able to expand its 2GB of internal storage. Despite these limitations, many consumers will undoubtedly be pleased with the S265G’s simplicity, reliability, and commitment-free service from TracFone. The S275G also emits exceptionally low radiation levels compared to other phones.
The Samsung S275G is 3.8 inches long, 1.91 inches wide, and 0.66 inches thick. Its compact dimensions coupled with a feather-light weight of 70 grams make portability one of the phone’s major advantages. The phone also has rounded edges and can easily slide into pockets. The spacious keyboard and large keys are ideal for texting and dialing, and users shouldn’t have a problem with mistyping. The color of the phone is a low-key dark gray.
The S275G’s 1.3-megapixel camera is not exactly sophisticated, but the dedicated camera button makes it easy to access. The camera includes features such as digital 2x zoom and multi-shot and can record video, but it lacks autofocus and flash functions. The main display has a resolution of 128 by 160 and a pixel density of 116 ppi. There is also a 1-inch secondary display that shows information such as time and notifications when the phone is closed.
With 1,024 MB of RAM, the handset’s system memory capabilities are exceptional for a flip phone. The single-core NXP PNX 6809 processor is much less impressive, but it is capable of running basic apps on the phone without any issues. The 800 mAh battery lasts for up to 5.5 hours of talk time and nine days of standby time.
The Samsung S275G comes equipped with basic video and music players. Supported audio formats include mp3, AAC, AAC+, WMA, WAV, MIDI, AMR, and the iMelody ringtone format. The video player can handle mp4, 3GP, MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264 videos. The lack of a standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack means users will have to listen to audio through the speaker.
The phone’s WAP 2.0 browser allows users to access information over TracFone’s wireless network. The S275G can also connect to Bluetooth, although it lacks Wi-Fi and email capabilities. The phone also comes with calling features such as speakerphone, a hearing-aid compatible speaker, and airline mode. It may lack the advanced apps and features of more powerful phones, but users looking for a minimalist handset with a low price tag may want to give the S275G a try.
